Scandihuts was founded by Aron Buterbaugh, someone who understands both the soul of a home and the science behind building one.
After living in Finland and experiencing firsthand the elegance, simplicity, and durability of Scandinavian design, our founder set out to bring that same ethos to the Northeast—where rugged landscapes and seasonal extremes call for thoughtful, high-performance living spaces. Scandihuts was born from this vision: to offer prefabricated cabins and saunas that are beautifully crafted, sustainably built, and intelligently designed for modern life and wellness.
With over 23 years of experience in construction and interior design, our founder has contributed to award-winning green building projects across New England including the first USGBC LEED Gold Certified home in Maine and a LEED Gold Habitat for Humanity home. His work bridges aesthetics with performance, blending clean design lines with rigorous attention to detail and durability.
Backed by a formal education in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, the founder brings a deep technical understanding to every project—ensuring that each Scandihut structure isn’t just beautiful, but built to last, perform efficiently, and age gracefully.
